"Miyama-ashiboso-suge" (Carex scita) belongs to Cyperaceae (the Sedge family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Chubu district of Honshu in Japan. This herb grows in alpine grasslands of the Central Alps (Kiso Mountains) and the South Alps (Akaishi Mountains), and can reach 20-70 cm in height. It is sparse clumping. The leaves are linear, 2-5 mm in width. The flowering clustes are borne from June to August. The acrogyrous spikes are male, and the 2-6 pleurogerous spikes are female, with long peduncles and drooping.
