メキシコの中部、ケレタロ州からメキシコ州が原産です。これは、幅９０センチ、高さ６０センチまでの茎のないロゼットを形成する多肉植物です。葉は濃い緑色から青銅色の緑色で、非常に装飾的な白いつぼみの跡があります。花は秋と冬に現れます。花茎の高さは、最大３．５メートルで、長さ５センチまでの黄緑色から濃い紫色の花が密集しています。

The thread agave (Agave filifera) belongs to Agavaceae (the Agave family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to Central Mexico from Querétaro to Mexico State. It is a succulent plant that forms stemless rosette up to 90 cm across and up to 60 cm tall. The leaves are dark green to a bronzish-green in color and have very ornamental white bud imprints. The flowers appear in fall and winter. The flower stalk is up to 3.5 m tall and is densely loaded with yellowish-green to dark purple flowers up to 5 cm long.
