The Grey milkwood (Cerbera manghas) belongs to Apocynaceae (the Dogbane family). It is a semi-tall evergreen tree that is distributed from the Nansei Islands of Japan to Southeast Asia, India, Polynesia and Australia. This tree grows near the coast and is about 10 m high. The fruits are sprayed along the ocean current. The flowers are white and fragrant. The bark, leaves, and seeds are poisonous, and in Okinawa they are called "Mi-fukuragi" or "Mi-fukkagi" because they swell when the sap gets into the eyes. Another name is "Okinawa Oleander".
