わが国の本州、福井県以西に分布しています。山地の林床に生え、高さは５０〜１００センチほどになります。葉は長楕円形から卵形で、縁には粗い鋸歯があり、対生します。茎や葉の裏は星形毛に被われています。９月から１０月ごろ、茎の先に総状花序をだし、淡紅色の唇形花を咲かせます。花冠からは４個の雄しべが突きだしてします。別名で「いとかけそう（糸掛け草）」とも呼ばれます。

シソ科テンニンソウ属の落葉小低木で、学名は Leucosceptrum srellipilum。英名はありません。

"Mikaeri-so" (Leucosceptrum srellipilum) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is a deciduous shrub that is distributed west of Fukui prefecture in Honshu, Japan. This herb grows on the forest floor in the mountains and is about 50 to 100 cm high. The leaves are oblong to ovate, with rough serrations on the edges and opposite. The stems and the backs of the leaves are covered with star-shaped hair. The racemes are borne on the tips of the stems and bloom pink labiate flowers from September to October. The four stamens stick out from the corolla. It is also called "Itokake-so" by another name.
