わが国の本州、東北地方南部から中国地方、四国それに中国からヒマラヤに分布しています。山地の林内に生え、高さは１０〜１５センチになります。地下茎から長い葉柄を伸ばしてハート形の葉を出します。３月から４月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして淡い黄白色の花を咲かせます。日光があたっていないと開花しません。

カタバミ科カタバミ属の多年草で、学名は Oxalis griffithii。英名はありません。

"Miyama-katabami" (Oxalis griffithii) belongs to Oxalidaceae (the Wood sorrel family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed westward from southern Tohoku district to Chugoku district of Honshu and Shikoku in Japan, as well as China to the Himalayas. This herb grows in mountain forests and can reach 10-15 cm in height. The heart-shaped, three-lobed compound leaves with long petioles are borne at the rhizomes. The pale yellowish white flowers bloom on the flowering stalks from March to April. They open only during sunlight.
