The Fragrant mimosa (Mimosa borealis) belongs to Mimosaceae (the Mimosa family). It is a deciduous shrub that is found in the central United States, from southeastern Kansas and Colorado to Texas, and northern Mexico. It grows in rocky gravels and canyons on hillsides and grows 90 to 180 cm tall. The branches are hairless, slightly zigzagging, and grow with recurved spines. The leaves are twice pinnate compound, with two to five pairs of elliptic to ovate leaflets. In spring, spherical inflorescences appear at the ends of peduncles, producing fragrant white to pink flowers.
