The Tylopilus virens belongs to the Boletaceae. It is a fungus that is distributed from Honshu south to Shikoku, Kyushu in Japan, as well as southern Korean Peninsula, Yunnan Province in China, and Borneo. It is found from summer to fall on the forest floor of red pine, Ko-nara, and Japanese chinquapin forests. The pileus is 4.5 to 6 cm in diameter, slightly felted, and olive to olive-yellow in color. The stalk is pale yellow with a reddish tinge below the middle, and in some cases the base is bright yellow.
