わが国の固有種で、本州の関東地方と中部地方に分布しています。亜高山帯の草地に生え、高さは２０〜５０センチになります。葉は２〜３回羽状複葉で、小葉は細かく切れ込み、裂片は披針形から線形です。７月から８月ごろ、茎頂に小さな複散形花序をだします。花は白色の５弁花です。果実は倒卵円形の分果で、軍配形の翼があります。

セリ科ヤマゼリ属の多年草で、学名は Ostericum florentii。英名はありません。

"Miyama-ninjin" (Ostericum florentii) belongs to Apiaceae (the Carrot family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Japan, and distributed to Kanto and Chubu district of Honshu. This herb grows in sub-alpine grasslands, and it can reach 20-50 cm in height. The leaves are biternate to triternate compound with fine dissected leaflets. The segments are lancelate to linear. The small compound umbels are borne atop of stems from July to August. The flowers are white five-petaled. The fruits are obovate-round mericarps with referee's fan-shaped wings.
