"Miyama-niga-uri" (Schizopepon bryoniaefolius) belongs to Cucurbitaceae (the Gourd family). It is an annual herb that is native to Japan, as well as Sakhalin and East Siberia. This herb grows in deep mountains, and climbs up adjascent trees and rocks by tendrils. The leaves are ovate-cordate, thin, irregular serrated with long acute tips. There are bisexual plants and male plants. The bisexual plant blooms solitary yellow-white flower in the axils, the male plant blooms white flowers which having five partite tips in the racemes from August to September. After flowering, it produces pale green, about 1 cm across, burnish ovate berries.
