The slender sandwort (Minuartia tenella) belongs to Caryophyllaceae (the Carnation family). It is a perennial herb that is native from British Columbia south to Oregon in the United States. This herb grows in coastal bluffs, meadows and open forests, and it can reach 10-30 cm in height. The stems are slender, erect, with few branches above, glandular. The leaves are ovate to lanceolate, and the upper leaves smaller. The white flowers bloom in the open cymes from late spring to early summer.
