わが国の各地に分布しています。日当たりの良い湿地などに生え、高さは４０～９０センチになります。葉は対生し、３全裂します。８月から１０月ごろ、散房花序をだし、白色から淡い赤紫色の花を咲かせます。頭花は５個ほどの管状花で、花柱の先が分枝して長く伸びます。

キク科ヒヨドリバナ属の多年草で、学名は Eupatorium lindleyanum var. trisectifolium。英名はありません。

"Mitsuba-sawa-hiyodori" (Eupatorium lindleyanum var. trisectifolium) belongs to Asteraceae (Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native all over Japan. This herb grows in sunny marshes and can reach 40-90 cm in height. The leaves are oppsite and tri-dissected. The corymbs are borne on the branched stem and bloom white to pale magenta flower-heads from August to October. The flower-head consists of around 5 tubular flowers. The tip of style is branched and elongated.
