The "Miyako-yabu-sotetsu" (Cyrtomium yamamotoi) belongs to the family Dryopteridaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed from the Kanto region of Honshu westwards to Shikoku, Kyushu in Japan and the central and southern parts of China. It grows on the forest floor in mountainous areas and is 40 to 100 cm tall. The leaves are pinnate compound leaves with a whitish tinge of green, and are slightly glossy and papery. The lateral pinnae are sword-shaped and gradually become narrower, with a tail-like tip, and there are 10 to 20 pairs. There are brown-red scales at the base of the leaf stalk. The sorus is on the entire surface of the pinnules, and the indisum is round with a blackish brown center. In Chinese, it is called "舉HŠÑO" (kuo yu guan zhong).
