This herb grows along the ground under scrubby bushes, and can reach about 15 cm in height. It is a mat-forming perennial succulent with creeping shoots growing prostrate along the ground. The leaves are globose or depressed-globose, with a short mucro (beak) at the end opposite the points of attachment to the stems. They are shiny, light green with a narrow, light green window along their length. The flowers are 3-5 cm in diameter and brushlike, lack the ray florets, and bloom from spring to fall.
