みどりのすず (緑の鈴) [Index] [Back] 南アフリカとナミビア南部に分布しています。 低木の茂みの下で地面に沿って成長し、高さ約１５センチに達することができます。マット状の多年生多肉植物で、匍匐茎は地面に沿って突っ伏すように生育します。 葉は球形または窪んだ球形で、茎に付着する部分の反対側の端には短いムクロジ（くちばし）があります。 葉は光沢のある薄緑色で、長さ方向に薄緑色の細い窓があります。花は直径３〜５センチのブラシ状で、舌状花を欠き、春から秋にかけて咲きます。  キク科キオン属の常緑多年草で、学名は Senecio rowleyanus。英名は String of beads、String of pearls。  The String of beads (Senecio rowleyanus) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is an evergreen herb that is native to South Africa and southern Namibia. This herb grows along the ground under scrubby bushes, and can reach about 15 cm in height. It is a mat-forming perennial succulent with creeping shoots growing prostrate along the ground. The leaves are globose or depressed-globose, with a short mucro (beak) at the end opposite the points of attachment to the stems. They are shiny, light green with a narrow, light green window along their length.
