わが国の本州、四国それに九州に分布しています。山地の渓流の近くなどに生え、高さは１０〜４０センチになります。葉は楕円形で互生し、表面には細かい毛が生えています。５月から６月ごろ、枝先にさそり状集散花序をだし、淡青紫色の花を咲かせます。

ムラサキ科キュウリグサ属の多年草で、学名は Trigonotis brevipes。英名はありません。

"Mizu-tabirako" (Trigonotis brevipes) belongs to Boraginaceae (the Borage family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan. This herb grows along montaine streams and can reach 10-40 cm in height. The leaves are elliptic, opposite and covered with fine hairs on the surface. The scorpioid cymes are boren on the terminal branches and pale bluish-purple flowers bloom from May to June.
