わが国の固有種で、本州の中部地方北部に分布しています。高山帯の草地や砂礫地などに生え、高さは１０～２０センチになります。葉は根生し、羽状に中裂から深裂します。６月から８月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして黄色い頭花を咲かせます。総苞外片の長さが内片の２分の１から３分の２なのが特徴です。別名で「たてやまたんぽぽ（立山蒲公英）」とも呼ばれます。

キク科タンポポ属の多年草で、学名は Taraxacum alpicola。英名はありません。

The "Miyama-tanpopo" (Taraxacum alpicola) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Japan and distributed northward from Chubu district of Honshu. This herb grows in alpine grasslands and screes, and can reach 10-20 cm in height. The leaves are basal and divided into cleft or partite pinnately. The yellow flower-heads bloom on the flowering stalks from June to August. It is defined from the length of outer involcal bract is between harf and two-thirds of inner involcal bract.
