わが国の本州、東北地方から中部地方それに九州に分布しています。広葉樹林内や川の土手、斜面の草地などに生えて、高さは２０～３０センチになります。太い地下茎によって広がります。葉は広い三角状で、３～４回羽状に細かく分裂します。３月から４月ごろ、鮮やかな黄色い花を咲かせます。萼片はふつう５個で、その長さが花弁の２分の１から３分の２と短いのが特徴です。

キンポウゲ科フクジュソウ属の多年草で、学名は Adonis multiflora。英名はありません。

The "Michinoku-fukuju-so" (Adonis multiflora) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from the Tohoku to the Chubu district on the island of Honshu, and on the island of Kyushu. This herb grows in broad-leaved forests, stream banks, and grassy slopes, and can reach 20-30 cm in height. It spreads by thick rhizomes. Leaves are broadly triangular and pinnately divided into 3-4 leaflets. Its bright yellow flowers bloom from March to April. Adonis multiflora usually has five sepals and the sepals are characteristically one-half to two-thirds the length of the petals. (edit by Greg Brockelbank)
