わが国の本州、中部地方以北から北海道南部、四国の剣山、それに朝鮮半島や中国東北部に分布しています。亜高山帯から高山帯の岩場に生え、高さは１０〜４０センチになります。根生葉は３〜４回羽状に分裂し、終裂片は糸状になります。７月から９月ごろ、茎頂に複散形花序をだし、小さな白い花を咲かせます。中国名では「いわういきょう（岩茴香, Yan hui xiang）」と呼ばれます。

セリ科シラネニンジン属の多年草で、学名は Tilingia tachiroei。英名はありません。

"Miyama-uikyo" (Tilingia tachiroei) belongs to Apiaceae (the Carrot family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed northward from Chubu district of Honshu to southern Hokkaido, Mt. Tsurugi in Shikoku in Japan, as well as the Korean Peninsula and north-eastern China. This herb grows in sub-alpine to alpine rocky places and can reach 10-40 cm in height. The basal leaves are divided into tri- or quatri-pinnnate lobes, and the end-lobes are filaceous. The small white flowers bloom in compound umbels from July to September.
