	わが国の各地をはじめ、朝鮮半島や中国に分布しています。山地の沢沿いや崩落地に生え、高さは３～５メートルになります。葉は３出複葉で対生し、小葉は長楕円形から卵形です。縁には短い芒状の鋸歯があります。４月から５月ごろ、枝先の円錐花序に、小さな白色の花を咲かせます。果実は蒴果で、矢筈形をしています。中国名では「省沽油（sheng gu you）」。
	ミツバウツギ科ミツバウツギ属の落葉低木で、学名は Staphylea bumalda。英名は Japanese bladdernut。
	The Japanese bladdernut (Staphylea bumalda) belongs to the family Staphyleaceae. It is a small deciduous tree that is distributed all over Japan, the Korean Peninsula and China. This tree grows along mountain streams and collapsed areas, and can reach 3-5 m in height. The leaves are trifoliate and opposite, an with oblong to ovate leaflets. The leaf edges have short awn-shaped serrations. The small white flowers come on the panicles at the tips of the branches from April to May. The fruits are nock-shaped capsules. The Chinese name is "省沽油" (sheng gu you).
