わが国の本州、岩手県の早池峰山の固有種です。高山帯の蛇紋岩地に生え、高さは２５〜５０センチになります。根茎は太く分岐します。葉は２回３出複葉で、暗緑色、光沢がある卵形の小葉がつきます。小葉は卵形で、先端は尾状に伸びません。７月から８月ごろ、茎頂の分枝した花序に、白色の花を咲かせます。

バラ科ヤマブキショウマ属の多年草で、学名は Aruncus dioicus var. astilboides。英名はありません。

"Miyama-yamabuki-shoma" (Aruncus dioicus var. astilboide) belongs to the Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Mt. Hayachine in Iwate Prefecture, Honshu of Japan. This herb grows on the alpine serpentine area and can reach 25-50 cm in height. The rhizomatous roots are thick and branched. The leaves are biternate compound with dark green, glossy , ovate leaflets. The leaflets have not caudate tips. The white flowers bloom in the branched clusters atop of stems.
