みやまざくら (深山桜) [Index] [Back] わが国の各地をはじめ、朝鮮半島や中国東北部、サハリン、ウスリーに分布しています。山地から亜高山帯下部に生え、高さは５〜１０メートルになります。葉は倒卵状長楕円形で互生し、縁には欠刻状の重鋸歯があります。５月から６月ごろ、葉が展開したあとに、総状花序に白色の花を咲かせます。果実は球形の核果で、７月から８月に黒色に熟します。果柄の基部には葉状の苞が残ります。別名で「しろざくら（白桜）」とも呼ばれます。 バラ科サクラ属の落葉高木で、学名は Prunus maximowiczii。英名はありません。 "Miyama-zakura" (Prunus maximowiczii) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a tall decidouos tree that is native to various parts of Japan, the Korean Peninsula, northeastern China, Sakhalin and Ussuri. The tree grows in mountains to underneath sub-alpine zone, and can reach 5-10 m in height. The leaves are obovate-oblong and alternate with indented duplicato-serratus edges. The white flowers bloom in the racemes from May to June after foliation. The fruits are globose drupes, and ripen in black from July to August.
