わが国の固有種で、中部地方の亜高山帯から高山帯に分布しています。砂礫地や草地に生え、高さは15〜60センチになります。茎葉は3〜4回3出羽状複葉で、鋭い鋸歯があります。7月から8月ごろ、茎の先や上部の葉腋に複散形花序をつけ、白い花をいっぱい咲かせます。一稔性で、果実をつけたあとは枯死します。 
セリ科エゾノシシウド属の多年草で、学名は Coelopleurum multisectum。英名はありません。 
"Miyama-zenko" (Coelopleurum multisectum) belongs to Apiaceae (the Carrot family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Japan and is distributed from the subalpine zone to the alpine zone in the Chubu region. This herb grows on gravels and grasslands and can reach 15-60 cm in height. The cauline leaves are 3-4 times triternate pinnately compound with sharp serrations. The compound umbels are borne on the tips of the stems and the axils at the top, and many white flowers bloom from July to August. It is monocarp and will die after it bears fruit.
