The "Mizu-chidori" (Platanthera hologlottis) belongs to Orchdaceae (the Orchid family). It is a perennial herb that is native to various parts of Japan, as well as the southern Kuril Islands, the Korean Peninsula, northeastern China and eastern Siberia. This herb grows in montane swamps or bogs and can reach 50-90 cm in height. The leaves are linear-lanceolate and alternate. The long spikes are borne and bloom white flowers from June to July. The flowers have an aromatic fragrance and are also known as "Jako-chidori" (musk plover). In Chinese, it is called "–§‰ÔãO—–" (mi hua she chun lan).
