わが国の本州、中部地方以北から北海道それに千島列島、ウスリー地方に分布しています。亜高山帯や高山帯の湿原や雪田の縁などに生え、高さは４０〜６０センチになります。葉は円形または半円形で７〜９中裂し、根生します。７月から８月ごろ、茎の先や葉腋から花序をだして白い花を咲かせます。花には花弁がなく、白い雄しべが目立ちます。花後は、金平糖のような果実をつけます。 |

キンポウゲ科モミジカラマツ属の多年草で、学名は Trautvetteria caroliniensis var. japonica。英名は False bugbane。 |

The False bugbane (Trautvetteria caroliniensis var. japonica) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is native from Chubu district of Honshu north to Hokkaido in Japan, as well as the Kuril Islands and the Ussuri region. This herb grows in sub-alpine to alpine marshes, along snow patches and it can reach 40-60 cm in height. The leaves are round or semicircle, devided into 7-9 clefts and radical. The white flowers bloom in the terminal and axilary clusters from July to August. They are apetalous and having visible white stamens. After flowering, it produces Konpeito-like (Japanese sugar candy) fruits. |
