The New Guinea creeper (Mucuna warburgii) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is an evergreen woody vine that is distributed from Papua New Guinea to Irian Island, the Maluku Islands and Sulawesi Island. It is a vine shrub that climbs and hangs bright vermilion inflorescences. In Aira, Kikuka-machi, Kumamoto Prefecture in Japan, there is a similar "Aira-tobikazura" with purple flowers, which is a natural monument. Mucuna warburgii is also closely related to "Mucuna bennettii".
