"Morou-mamushi-gusa" (Arisaema kishidae) belongs to Araceae (the Arum family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Aichi Prefecture and the Kinki region of Honshu westward to Shikoku in Japan. It grows in forests in mountainous areas and is 25 to 100 cm tall. The leaves have long petioles and split into bird's-foot-like leaflets, and around April to May, the flower stalks grow to produce spadix surrounded by light brown spathe bracts. The spathe has a long limb with a thread-like tip. Also, there is no mastoid on the inside of the limb. The appendage is brown and club-shaped. It is also known as "Kishida-mamushi-gusa", named after Matsuwaka Kishida (1833-1905), a naturalist of the Meiji era.
