スーダンの東部が原産です。「こんろんか（崑崙花）」に似ていて、高さは３メートルほどになります。葉は楕円形から長楕円形で薄く、対生します。茎の先の散房花序に、黄色い花を数個咲かせます。花序に１〜２個、葉状に大きくなった萼裂片があり、白色から淡黄白色をしています。別名で「うすぎこんろんか（薄黄崑崙花）」とも呼ばれます。

アカネ科コンロンカ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Mussaenda luteola。英名は Yellow mussaenda。

The yellow mussaenda (Mussaenda luteola) belongs to Rubiaceae (the Madder family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to the eastern part of Sudan. It is similar to "Mussaenda parviflora" and is about 3 m high. The leaves are elliptic to oblong, thin and opposite. The several yellow flowers bloom on the inflorescences at the tip of the stem. There are one or two sepals in the inflorescence, which are enlarged in the shape of leaves, and are white to pale yellowish white.
