わが国の本州、新潟県の上越地方から群馬県の北部に分布しています。「みやまとりかぶと（Aconitum nipponicum）」の変種です。亜高山帯の草地や林内に生え、高さは３０〜１５０センチになります。８月から９月ごろ、青紫色の花を咲かせます。花柄に屈毛があり、雄しべや雌しべにも短毛が密生するのが特徴です。

キンポウゲ科トリカブト属の多年草で、学名は Aconitum septemcarpum。英名はありません。

"Myokou-torikabuto (Aconitum septemcarpum) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from the Joetsu region of Niigata prefecture to the northern part of Gunma prefecture in Honshu, Japan. It is a variant of "Miyama-torikabuto" (Aconitum nipponicum). This herb grows in subalpine grasslands and forests and can reach 30-150 cm in height. The peduncle has curly hair, and short hairs are densely grown on the stamens and pistils.
