	わが国の北海道南部から本州の鳥取県以北の日本海側に分布しています。人家近くの山野に生え、高さは１０～２０センチになります。葉は先端の尖った心形で濃緑色、深い鋸歯があります。４月から５月ごろ、淡い紅紫色の花を咲かせます。距は細長く斜上します。和名は、距が長いことに由来します。別名で「てんぐすみれ（天狗菫）」とも呼ばれます。
	スミレ科スミレ属の多年草で、学名は Viola rostrata var. japonica。英名は Longspur violet。
	The Longspur violet (Viola rostrata var. japonica) belongs to Violaceae (the Violet family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from southern Hokkaido south to the Japanese Sea Side of Honshu (north of Tottori Prefecture) in Japan. This herb grows in mountains and fields near town, and it can reach 10-20 cm in height. The leaves are cordate with acute tip, dark green, and deep serrate. The pale magenta flowers bloom from April to May. The spur is slender and ascending.
