スミレ科スミレ属の多年草で、学名は Viola rostrata var. japonica。英名は Longspur violet。
The Longspur violet (Viola rostrata var. japonica) belongs to Violaceae (the Violet family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from southern Hokkaido south to the Japanese Sea Side of Honshu (north of Tottori Prefecture) in Japan. This herb grows in mountains and fields near town, and it can reach 10-20 cm in height. The leaves are cordate with acute tip, dark green, and deep serrate. The pale magenta flowers bloom from April to May. The spur is slender and ascending.
