わが国の固有種で、沖縄島北部と西表島に分布しています。山地の河原や岩場に生え、高さは１５〜４０センチになります。茎は直立し叢生します。葉は長楕円状披針形で粗い鋸歯があり、長い柄があります。１１月から１月ごろ、小さな白色の頭花を総状または複総状花序に咲かせます。

キク科モミジハグマ属の多年草で、学名は Ainsliaea oblonga。英名はありません。

"Nagaba-haguma" (Ainsliaea oblonga) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Japan, and disrtibuted to northern Okinawa Island and Iriomote Island. This herb grows in mountain riverbeds or rocky places, and can reach 15-40 cm in height. The stems are erect and clumping. The leaves are oblong-lanceolate, coarsely toothed with long petioles. The small white flower-heads bloom in racemes or compound racemes from November to January.
