バラ科キイチゴ属の落葉低木で、学名は Rubus parvifolius。英名は Japanese raspberry。
The Japanese raspberry (Rubus parvifolius) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a small deciduous tree that is native to various parts of Japan, the Korean Peninsula and China. This tree is a trailing vine and grows in montane sunny places or stream banks. The leaves are trifoliate to pentafoliolate and opposite. The cymes are borne and bloom pink flowers between May and June. The petals cover the stamens and do not open. The fruits ripen in dark red in June, and they are sweet and edible. It is called "茅莓" (mao mei) in Chinese.
