The "Nameri-chochin-goke" (Mnium lycopodioides) belongs to the family Mniaceae. It is a mosses that is distributed throughout Japan, as well as in China, Vietnam, and Nepal. It grows on roadsides, embankments, and rocks, reaching a height of 1 to 3 cm. The stems are erect or drooping, with a few branches. The leaves are dark green to greenish brown, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, with a thick midrib that reaches the tip of the leaf. It is dioecious. Male plants produce splash-cup. Female plants produce ovoid-cylindrical capsules on 2-3 cm long setae.
