マレー半島に分布しています。高さは３〜１５メートルになり、幹は節くれます。葉は２裂し、卵状楕円形の葉が２個くっついたように見えます。幹に花序をつけ、直径１２ミリほどの淡いピンク色の花を咲かせます。果実は腎形の核果で黄色から淡褐色に熟し、料理用や砂糖漬けに利用されます。名前はマレー語の「ナムナム（Nam Nam）」に因みます。

マメ科キノメトラ属の常緑低木で、学名は Cynometra cauliflora。英名は Nam Nam。

The Nam Nam (Cynometra cauliflora) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed in the Malay Peninsula. It grows 3-15 m tall and has a nodding trunk. The leaves are two lobed and look like two ovate-elliptic leaves attached to each other. Inflorescences are produced on the trunk, and the pale pink flowers, about 12 mm in diameter, bloom. The fruits are kidney-shaped kernels that ripen from yellow to light brown and are used for cooking and candied. Its name is derived from the Malay word "nam-nam".
