The "Nanabake-shida" (Tectaria decurrens) belongs to the family Tectariaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed from the Ryukyu Islands south of Tokunoshima in Japan to Taiwan, the Philippines, southern China, India, Sri Lanka, Southeast Asia, and the South Pacific. It grows along valleys in mountainous areas and grows 50 to 100 cm tall. The rhizomes are short and tuberous, and the leaves are arranged in clusters. The leaves are single, deeply parted, and have broad wings near the base. The leaves tend to be somewhat dimorphic, and the fertile fronds have slightly narrower lobes. It is called "翅柄三叉蕨" in Taiwanese Chinese and "下延叉蕨" (xia yan cha jue) in Chinese.
