The Cyclamen-flowered daffodil (Narcissus cyclamineus) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in northwestern Portugal and northwestern Spain. It grows in forests and meadows and reaches a height of 15 to 20 cm. The leaves are string-like, erect, and basal. It blooms bright yellow flowers in early spring. The corona is long and narrow, and the perianth segments are completely bent backward. Due to its shape, it is known in Japanese as "Cyclamen-zaki-suisen". It is the parent species of "Cyclamineus daffodil" group. Most of these hybrids are significantly larger than the original species, and although their perianth segments are slightly curved, they do not curve completely like those of the original species.
