ラン科ネジバナ属の多年草で、学名は Spiranthes sinensis var. amoena。英名は Lady's tresses。
The Lady's tresses (Spiranthes sinensis var. amoena) belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed throughout Japan, as well as the Korean Peninsula, central and northeastern China, Ussuri and Sakhalin. This herb grows in sunny grasslands and can reach 10-40 cm in height. The basal leaves are broad-linear and scendent. The cauline leaves are small lanceolate and scale-like. The spiral spikes are borne and the pink to magenta flowers bloom from April to October. Rarely, white flowers are also available and are called "Shirobana-mojizuri". In addition, spirals are not only left-handed, but also right-handed. In Chinese, it is called "綬草" (shou cao).
