ブラジルが原産の着生植物です。葉は淡緑色の卵形で、裏面には赤味を帯びた葉脈が浮き出ています。長い小花梗の先に大きな黄色い花を下垂して咲かせます。花には赤褐色の縞模様があり、星形の赤い萼片が目立ちます。

イワタバコ科ネマタンツス属の常緑多年草で、学名は Nematanthus brasiliensis。英名はありません。

The Nematanthus brasiliensis belongs to Gesneriaceae (the African violet family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is an epiphyte native to Brazil. The leaves are light green and ovate, with reddish veins raised on the underside. Large yellow flowers hang down at the ends of long pedicels. The flowers have reddish-brown stripes and conspicuous star-shaped red sepals.
