タンザニアが原産です。一属一種の植物で、低地に地生しています。属名は、イギリスの植物学者であったジョージ・ベンサム（George Bentham）にちなみます。２月から５月ごろ、葉のような花茎の先端に花序をだし、白色の花をたくさん咲かせます。唇弁には赤紫色の小さな斑があります。

The Neobenthamia gracilis belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to Tanzania. It is a single species in a single genus and grows terrestrial in lowland areas. The genus is named after George Bentham (1800-1884), an English botanist. From February to May, it produces an inflorescence at the tip of a leaf-like scape with many white flowers. The labellum has small reddish-purple spots.
