The Winged nepenthes (Nepenthes alata) belongs to Nepenthaceae (the Nepenthes family). It is a perrenial evergreen herb that is distributed from Malaysia to Borneo, Sumatra and the Philippines. It grows in mossy rain forests at elevations from 800 to 2000 m, is a vine, and can grow up to 4 m long. It is an insectivorous plant. It has an insect sac at the tip of the vine that captures insects attracted to the nectar glands at the entrance. The insect sacs are pale green in color, but are often mottled with pale red, dark red, or purple.
