マレーシアからボルネオ島、スマトラ島それにフィリピンに分布しています。標高８００〜２０００メートルの苔生した雨林に生え、蔓性で長さは４メートルほどになります。食虫植物です。蔓の先端に捕虫嚢があり、入口の蜜腺に誘った虫を捕獲します。捕虫嚢の色は淡い緑色ですが、しばしば淡赤色や暗赤色、紫色などの斑が入ります。 |

The Winged nepenthes (Nepenthes alata) belongs to Nepenthaceae (the Nepenthes family). It is a perrenial evergreen herb that is distributed from Malaysia to Borneo, Sumatra and the Philippines. It grows in mossy rain forests at elevations from 800 to 2000 m, is a vine, and can grow up to 4 m long. It is an insectivorous plant. It has an insect sac at the tip of the vine that captures insects attracted to the nectar glands at the entrance. The insect sacs are pale green in color, but are often mottled with pale red, dark red, or purple. |
