タイからマレー半島、それにボルネオ島やスマトラ島、スラウェシ島に分布しています。低地から標高７５０メートルくらいの熱帯雨林に生え、長さは数メートルになります。葉は披針形でロゼット状に生えます。捕虫嚢の大きさは１０〜１５センチほどです。

ウツボカズラ科ウツボカズラ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Nepenthes gracilis。英名は Pitcher plant。

The Pitcher plant (Nepenthes gracilis) belongs to Nepenthaceae (the Nepenthes family). It is a perrenial evergreen herb that is distributed from Thailand to the Malay Peninsula, as well as Borneo, Sumatra, and Sulawesi. It grows in tropical rainforests from lowlands to about 750 m above sea level and is several meters long. The leaves are lanceolate and grow in rosettes. The insect sacs are about 10 to 15 cm in length.
