フィリピンのミンダナオ島に分布しています。海岸近くの低地に生えます。茎は地面を這うか樹木に絡まり、長さは３〜４メートルになります。葉は大きな長楕円形で、ふつうは濃緑色をしていますが、日光に晒されると濃赤色に変化します。捕虫袋はウツボカズラ属のなかでも最大級で、長さは２０〜３０センチになります。通常は緑色ですが、暗赤色を帯びることもあります。 |

The Nepenthes merrilliana belongs to Nepenthaceae (the Nepenthes family). It is a perrenial evergreen herb that is distributed in Mindanao, Philippines. It grows in lowlands near the coast. The stems crawl on the ground or are entangled in trees, and are 3 to 4 m long. The leaves are large, oblong, and usually dark green, but turn dark red when exposed to sunlight. The pitcher is one of the largest in the genus Nepenthes and is 20 to 30 cm long. It is usually green, but can turn dark red. |
