Nerine krigei belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial evergreen herb that is distributed from Free State (Vrystaat) in central South Africa to Mpumalanga in the east. This herb grows up 30-60 cm in height, and the leaves are tongue-shaped and spirally twisted. In summer, the flower stalks are stretched to produce umbels, and bright pink flowers come in bloom. The filaments are extremely warped. In winter, the terrestrials die and sleep.
