南アフリカの東ケープ地方に分布しています。高さは２０〜４０センチになり、ほとんど常緑で、夏にも休眠しません。また耐寒性も強い品種です。１０月から１１月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして散形花序に淡いピンク色の花を咲かせます。わが国へは大正時代に導入され、「ひめひがんばな（姫彼岸花）」とも呼ばれています。

ユリ科ネリネ属の多年草で、学名は Nerine undulata（syn. Nerine crispa）。英名はありません。

The Nerine undulata belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in the Eastern Cape region of South Africa. It grows 20 to 40 cm tall, is almost evergreen, and does not go dormant in summer. It also has strong cold tolerance. Around October to November, it grows a scape and produces pale pink flowers in umbels. It was introduced to Japan in the Taisho era (1912-1926) and is also called "Hime-higanbana".
