わが国の本州、山口県の瀬戸内沿岸、光市の虹が浜を中心とした丘陵に分布しています。「さんいんぎく（山陰菊）」と「のじぎく（野路菊）」の自然交雑種で、高さは６０センチほどになります。「しまかんぎく（島寒菊）」に似ていますが葉がやや厚く、１０月から１１月ごろに、やや大きめの黄色から白色の舌状花のある頭花を咲かせます。

キク科キク属の多年草で、学名は Dendranthema x shimotomaii。英名はありません。

The "Nijigahama-giku" (Dendranthema x shimotomaii) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed along the Seto Inland Sea coast of Yamaguchi Prefecture in Japan, on the hills around Nijigahama beach in Hikari City. It is a natural hybrid of the "San-in-giku" and the "Noji-giku", and grows to a height of about 60 cm. It is similar to the "Shima-kan-giku" but has slightly thicker leaves and produces rather large yellow to white ray floret flower heads from October to November.
