メキシコが原産です。わが国へは、昭和３０年代に渡来しました。多肉植物で、高さは１５〜２０センチになります。葉はビーンズ状で、秋から冬にかけて赤く色づきます。でも十分に日光が当たらないと、緑色に戻ってしまいます。

ベンケイソウ科マンネングサ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Sedum rubrotinctum。英名は Stonecrop、Pork and beans。

The Stonecrop (Sedum rubrotinctum) belongs to Crassulaceae (the Orpine family). It is an evergreen herb that is native to Mexico. It came to Japan in the 30's of the Showa era (about 60 years ago). This herb is a succulent plant and can reach 15 to 20 cm in height. The leaves are bean-shaped and turn red from fall to winter. But if it isn't exposed to enough sunlight, it will turn green.
