ヨーロッパの南部に分布しています。高さは１５〜３０センチになり、葉は灰緑色です。４月から５月ごろ、茎頂に総状花序をだし、白色の４弁花を咲かせます。園芸品種も多く、ロックガーデンなどに植栽されます。

アブラナ科ヤマハタザオ属の多年草で、学名は Arabis caucasica。英名は Rock cress、Wall rock cress。

The Rock cress (Arabis caucasica) belongs to Brassicaceae (the Mustard family). It is a perennial herb that is native to southern Europe. This herb can reach 15-30 cm in height, with grayish green leaves. The racemes are borne atop of stems and bloom white four-petaled flowers from April to May. The many cultivars have been raised and used for a rock garden plant.
