南アフリカの北西部から南西部が原産です。アロイデス種の変種で、花崗岩や砂岩の露頭に生え、高さは20〜25センチになります。鱗茎から帯状の葉を2個だします。茎や葉にはくすんだ紫色の斑があります。長い花茎を伸ばして総状花序をだし、鮮やかな黄色い花を咲かせます。 
ユリ科ラケナリア属の多年草で、学名は Lachenalia aloides var. aurea。英名はありません。 
Lachenalia aloides var. aurea belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the northwestern and southwestern parts of South Africa. It is a variant of "Cape cowslip" (Lachenalia aloides), and grows on granite and sandstone outcrops and can reach 20-25 cm in height. The two strip-shaped leaves are taken out from the bulbs. There are dull purple spots on the stems and leaves. It produces racemes atop of the long flower stalks, and blooms bright yellow flowers.
