カトレア属とレリア属との属間交雑種です。カトレア属の花の大きさとレリア属の花色の豊富さを融合させることを目指して作出されました。写真中１の品種は「シンシアモデル（cv. Chinita Model）」、中２は「バークレイ（cv. Barkley）」、中３は「ドラムモス（cv. Drum Moss）」、中４・下は「バターカップ（cv. Buttercup）」。

ラン科レリオカトレア属の常緑多年草で、学名は Laeliocattleya（属の総称）。英名は Laeliocattleya hybrid。

The Laeliocattleya hybrid belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is an intergeneric hybrid between the Cattleya genus and the Laelia genus. This hybrid was breeded striving to fusion of the Cattleya (large flower size) and the Laelia (variable flower color).
