メキシコからブラジルにかけて５０種ほどが分布しています。レリア属は「カトレヤ」の近縁で、樹木や岩に着生します。高さは３０〜４０センチほどになり、１０月から１月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして花を咲かせます。多くの園芸品種があります。写真中・下の品種は「ローズダスト（cv. Rose Dust）」。

The Laelia genus belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed about 50 species in Mexico to Brazil. This genus is a related genus of Cattleya, an epiphyte on trees and rocks. It can reach 30-40 cm in height and bloom on the stalks in October to January. Many cultivars have been breeded.
