地中海西部沿岸のスペインなどに分布しています。高さは４５〜９０センチほどになり、よく分枝します。茎には４稜があります。葉は濃緑色で全体に白い毛に被われ、鋭い鋸歯があります。花は紫色で、花筒の先が５裂しています。全体にほのかな香りがあります。別名で「デンタータラベンダー」とか「フリンジラベンダー」と呼ばれます。

シソ科ラバンデュラ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Lavandula dentata。英名は Dentata lavender、Fringed lavender、French lavender。

The dentata lavender (Lavandula dentata) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed in Spain on the western coast of the Mediterranean Sea. The height is about 45 to 90 cm, and it branches well. The stem has 4 ridges. The leaves are dark green, covered with white hair throughout and have sharp serrations. The flowers are purple and the tip of the flower tube is split into five lobes. There is a faint scent throughout. Also known as "fringed lavender" or "French lavender".
