西アジアのレバノンやシリア、トルコに分布しています。「アトラスシーダー（Cedrus atlantica）」の近縁種です。高地に生え、円錐形の樹冠で、高さは４０メートルほどになります。葉は針形で、濃緑色です。これはノアの箱船をつくった樹木としても有名です。この樹木の精油は香料としても利用されます。

マツ科ヒマラヤスギ属の常緑高木で、学名は Cedrus libani。英名は Cedar of Lebanon、Lebanese cedar。

The Cedar of Lebanon (Cedrus libani) belongs to Pinaceae (the Pine family). It is a tall evergreen tree that is native to Lebanon, Sylia and Turkey in West Asia. This tree is a related species of Atlas cedar (Cedrus atlantica). It grows in highlands and can reach about 40 m in height with a conical crown. Leaves are dark green needles. Cedar of Lebanon is also famous as the tree that made Noah's Ark. The essential oil of this tree is also used as a fragrance.
